About the Garden of Giving
The Garden of Giving is a volunteer based Thrive Outdoors initiative that has a simple 3 part mission:
1. Give people a place to connect with nature through gardening, 2. connect those looking to learn about growing their own food with those who have the knowledge, and 3. fight food insecurity in NH with the fruits of our labor - literally.
According to Feeding America, over 13 million children lived in food-insecure households in 2015. In NH alone, 13% of children (over 36,000), lived in food-insecure households (according to the NH Food Bank).
Because Thrive Outdoors is a stress management school that bases its core curriculum on the BIG 5 Principles of survival, feeding the hungry by growing our own food is a perfect way for us to volunteer. Food is one of the BIG 5, and there is not much that is more stressful than going hungry.
If you would like to get involved please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or follow and post on our Garden of Giving facebook page.
We would like to thank one of our Community partners, The Massabesic Audubon Center, for offering these garden plots at such an affordable rate. Consider them when looking for agencies to support. And check them out when looking for a great place to visit.
