Derry TAG will be held on the 1st and 3rd* Monday of every month from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, and then the 4th Saturday of the month from approximately 10 am to 5 pm for the adventure trip. All meetings will begin in The Grind Rail Trail Cafe at 5 West Broadway, Derry. There will be no TAG in the months of December, June, July, and August. However, TAG participants will be encouraged to join in activities in those months . They are also eligible for the Thrive Outdoors Annual Teen Trip at a considerable discount - which is held in the off months.
The cost is $70.00 a month / $500.00 annual membership per participant. This will cover healthy snacks, rental space, transportation, adventure day fees, instructor fees, and insurance.
The group is not exclusively about learning wilderness survival skills - though those will be taught. It is about learning stress reduction, coping, and self worth. The group structure is fluid and dynamic, and the participants themselves play a role in dictating the direction the it takes. The core curriculum will revolve around the Big 5 principles of survival, the Rules of 3, and the 6 C's. What we do will not focus on how these things work strictly in a wilderness survival setting, but more in our everyday life. The group, at its heart, is about navigating through life with an open mind, a positive attitude, and real world leadership skills.
*Some months will have an alternate schedule due to events or holidays. Because of Trunk or Treat (Thrive Outdoors Flagship event) in October and Thanksgiving in November, meetings and Adventure days are earlier. Participants will be made aware of changes in other months at least a month in advance.
