Cost: $10 Members / $15 Non-Members; $20M/$25NM Families - All proceeds go directly to the Massabesic Audubon Center. Normally these hikes are free, but this one is a special fund raiser for the center, which has allowed us to use their property on several occasions.
Come along for a peaceful hike under the starry skies on the yellow trail in Auburn, nh. This hike is on an open, flat trail with some roots and rocks and almost no elevation gain. There will be snowshoes available at the Audubon for $5.00 if you do not have your own. The halfway / turnaround is at Battery Point where we will have lake Massabesic on both sides and hopefully a clear view of the beautiful full moon.
The hope is that we actually have snow and need to use snowshoes, but even without them we will have a good time.
Difficulty: This is a 3.1 mile round trip hike considered easy and mostly flat. Please bring extra water, a light source, closed toed shoes, and warm layers appropriate for the weather and temp at the time of the hike.
Special: We will have a fire in the fire pit, marshmallows, hot cocoa, and fun. This is directly behind the center itself, so even those not wishing to hike can hang out by the fire and be with people under the full moon (or above the full moon if that is the case :-) ).
Meet: 6:45 pm, at 26 Audubon Way, Auburn
Registration: Please go to the Massabesic Audubon site for details on registration (Click here)
