Nicole Smith Martin – Program Coordinator
Nicole has spent her life outside - from growing up on a farm in Connecticut and showing her horse to studying Wildlife Conservation Biology. Nicole’s experience in the conservation field range from working with endangered species on a preserve to studying and tracking jaguars in Brazil. She has traveled all over the world, but her favorite place is Rwanda, where she hiked into the jungle to spend time with gorillas in the wild - one of her lifelong dreams.
Nicole is a mom of two amazing boys - who teach her something new everyday.
The one thing Nicole has learned so far in life is to have as many experiences as you can - this is where all learning and growth happens. Nicole fell in love with experiential education when she was a participant on a low and high ropes course in Arizona where she saw how powerful and life changing these experiences can be. She has been working as an experiential education facilitator - from youth to large corporations - for 8 years now. She loves how every program can be something different and how she gets to work with new people each work day.
One of her favorite programs is working with children with disabilities - because they enjoy being outdoors so much and because you can see the joy and pride on their faces when they have support in pushing themselves towards an accomplishment. Nicole also facilitates an Anger and Conflict Management workshop for teens at a family services center. In her spare time she has coached lacrosse to both girls and boys for years.
Nicole currently leads team builders and leadership courses for several top leadership agencies in the state of NH. She has chosen to lead this for Thrive Outdoors because she believes in the mission and vision so strongly.
Teaching leadership, teamwork and life skills permeate throughout all aspects of her life.
