Melanie has always loved travel and adventure, gleaning insight and inspiration from communities of people around the world. She believes in learning through every experience, the ordinary and the extraordinary, in classrooms and in the wilderness. As a creative lens within Thrive, Melanie is passionate about seeing small moments, as well as the big scenic vistas. She loves being alongside the groups as a guide, and then sharing words and images that capture the inspirational transformations she witnesses.
Melanie is a photographer, writer, wife, and homeschooling mother of four children. As a writer, she has been the recipient of literary awards and her fiction has been published in national magazines and in an assortment of literary journals. She is a featured contributor at This is The Community and freelance writes as time permits. Her personal writings can be followed at The Frozen Moon.
“The poetry of earth is never dead.” - John Keats
“Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.” Henry David Thoreau
“Adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
“I felt like lying down by the side of the trail and remembering it all. The woods do that to you, they always look familiar, long lost, like the face of a long-dead relative, like an old dream, like a piece of forgotten song drifting across the water, most of all like golden eternities of past childhood or past manhood and all the living and the dying and the heartbreak that went on a million years ago and the clouds as they pass overhead seem to testify (by their own lonesome familiarity) to this feeling.” Jack Kerouac
