Teen Adventure Group (T.A.G.)

ABOUT T.A.G: Thrive Outdoors instructors have years of experience working with teens, and are dedicated to helping them (and their families) through what is often considered the “toughest age." Our Teen programming offers teens a place to retreat from the stresses of everyday life, learn from each other and from passionate instructors, and gain a bigger picture mindset. Thrive Outdoors programming is modeled after the real world and the groups are dynamic, often changing and growing with the needs or desires of the participants. Thrive Outdoors focuses on staying positive and learning to move forward no matter what life throws at you, and our Teen Adventure Groups are one of our clearest models of this. In any of our teen groups, participants will have the opportunity to learn communication, critical thinking, acceptance, tolerance, stress management, and ways to foster a positive mindset in everyday life. They will also gain survival skills, team building and leadership skills, new friendships, and a better understanding of how important they truly are to this world. TAG groups meet regularly 8 months out off the year. But our "off" months are filled with opportunities to meet and adventure. TAGgers are encouraged to join our monthly full moon hikes, keep on the look out for our adventure trips, and stay in contact with instructors / group members on the off months. Many of our off-month adventures are free or discounted for TAG participants. T.A.G. Testimonials

"TAG has been a blessing to our family in so many ways.  My youngest daughter has been struggling with anxiety over the last few years.  She had stopped wanting to go to group events and stopped wanting to get together with friends.  When I first heard about TAG I told my daughter she had to attend the first meeting and if she didn't like it, she wouldn't have to go back.  She LOVED group and couldn't wait to go back. Although she was still dealing with the anxiety of being in a group setting, Thrive Outdoors was able to draw her in.  On one of the group hikes my daughter experienced her first panic attack. She had no idea what was happening.  After talking with her and realizing what had happened I made contact with Jake, the group facilitator,  to let him know so he could be aware for future gatherings.  He kindly offered to talk with us about anxiety.  We took him up on the offer.  Even though my daughter mostly just sat and listened, after that talk she has become the fun loving girl she once was.  Just knowing she has someone that understands and doesn't judge, other than mom, has given her the strength she needed to "try" again. I no longer see panic in her eyes every day, all day. She is more confident and eager to try new things.  She was always the "goober" of our family and it saddened all of us when she lost herself and her goofiness.  I am so grateful for the Thrive Outdoors TAG group.  I can't imagine where we would be and what we would be dealing with if not for TAG."  - T.A.G Parent (Manchester group)
